Report Foul Play in Lending

The Report Foul Play in Lending campaign is designed to promote public awareness about discrimination in mortgage lending and mortgage modification scams, and encourage the Greater New Orleans community to report suspicious practices for investigation and enforcement.
The Fair Housing Act protects against discrimination in mortgage lending on the basis of a person’s:

  • Race
  • Color
  • National origin
  • Religion
  • Sex
  • Disability
  • Family Status

Recent cases across the country have uncovered systemic practices on the parts of mortgage companies that illegally, disproportionately impact borrowers of color.  Other complaints have shown that some companies illegally denied home loans to expecting mothers because of their pregnancies.  Finally, in the wake of the nationwide foreclosure crisis, some companies have illegally scammed desperate homeowners with expensive foreclosure rescue hoaxes that don’t deliver relief.

If you suspect that you have been a victim of a mortgage scam or unjustly denied a home loan, click HERE to file a discrimination complaint or call the Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center at (504) 596-2100 and Report Foul Play in Lending
