LaFHAC Settles Nursing Home Complaint

Last week LaFHAC reached a settlement with Ollie Steele Burden Manor, a long-term care facility in Baton Rouge, over allegations that the facility refused to provide reasonable accommodations to potential residents who were Deaf or hard of hearing. The settlement agreement requires the facility and the entities that own and manage it to pay LaFHAC $85,000 and to ensure that all employees undergo fair housing training.

The Fair Housing Act applies to many different types of housing, including nursing homes. If you or a loved one live in a nursing home and have questions about your rights or need help requesting an accommodation, call LaFHAC at (504) 596-2100.
