The Intake Specialist’s essential responsibilities will include screening requests for legal assistance, including answering phones, conducting initial client interviews, and obtaining documents relevant to intake; maintaining full and accurate case files, databases and case management software, including generating reports as needed for grant reporting purposes; assisting with the preparation of legal documents, including photocopying and assembling documents with attachments for filing and mailing; and performing day-to-day administrative support work for attorneys as needed.
The Operations Associate’s essential responsibilities will include completing new employee onboarding and employee separation checklist tasks; ordering office supplies; serving as point of contact with office building management and Information Technology (IT) contractor; collecting health insurance and flex spending enrollment forms, enter data as necessary, and communicate relevant information to insurance brokerage firm and Director of Finance; serving as liaison to LaFHAC board; leading logistics for LaFHAC events; assisting in identifying professional development opportunities for LaFHAC staff; consolidating monthly bills/invoices for payment; facilitating check and check request signing, and mailing payments; performing monthly reconciliation of credit card statement; recording checks received, and making deposits; and receiving and saving staff timesheets and reimbursement requests.
The paralegal will support LaFHAC’s legal team as they investigate and litigate fair housing and eviction defense matters in federal court, state court, and administrative proceedings. The Paralegal’s duties and responsibilities will include managing and tracking LaFHAC’s litigation calendar and upcoming litigation deadlines; filing all administrative HUD complaints, and serving as point of contact during HUD investigations, including following up with clients as necessary; coordinating with clients to schedule interviews; collecting and filing client documents; preparing pleadings and other litigation documents for filing, including preparation of tables of contents, tables of authorities, and exhibits; drafting discovery requests and responses, including requests for admission, interrogatories, and requests for production of documents; drafting reasonable accommodation requests; and supporting LaFHAC’s Coordinator of Investigations in designing and implementing testing investigations.
