GNOFHAC Files Suit Against the Housing Authority of the City of Bossier Over Sexual Harassment

On April 7, 2011, the Greater New Orleans Fair Housing Action Center (GNOFHAC) filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana against the City of Bossier City Housing Authority. Complainants GNOFHAC and Shameka Banks allege that the Housing Authority violated the fair housing rights of Ms. Banks by ignoring her complaints about a maintenance worker who was harassing, assaulting and threatening her in a sexual manner. The Housing Authority’s inaction resulted in severe emotional distress for Ms. Banks and her children. The suit prays for injunctive relief and damages to compensate Ms. Banks and other possible victims.
