We are excited to announce that this year’s keynote will feature Dr. Robert D. Bullard!
Dr. Bullard has been an Environmental Justice advocate for over three decades. Commonly known as “the “Father of Environmental Justice” Dr. Bullard is the Director of the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice, an award-winning author of 18 publications, and Distinguished Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy at Texas Southern University. He is also the first Black person to be awarded the Sierra Club John Muir Award.
His latest publication, “The Wrong Complexion for Protection: How the Government Response to Disaster Endangers African American Communities” (New York University Press, 2012), documents the impacts of Hurricane Katrina on the Black community in New Orleans, and how systemic racism compounded the already devastating storm.
